Oscilloscope Laboratories, the fine distribution company founded by Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, has a street date of June 16th for the North American SW30 DVD.
Rolling Stone just gave the DVD FOUR STARS: “Even David Bowie - the executive producer of this exceptionally smart documentary - admits it: Scott Walker is the original avant-garde crooner.”
“The new gold standard for music documentaries.” - DVD Talk
“The year’s most enriching music documentary.” Time Out Chicago
Long, long, LONG overdue in the US of A, the DVD will feature some exclusive DVD extras including a bit more making-of-The Drift studio footage and an extended tour through the incredible collection of Walker-collector par excellence, Arnie Potts. More info on how to pre-order (and purchase the nice new poster) here.
LA gets one more chance (yes LA, this is your third opportunity) to catch it on the big screen on July 1 &2 at the New Beverly. And word has it that the film will open the Last Call Film Festival in Louisville, KY on June 27.

!! HELD OVER - NOW THROUGH FEB 5 - OPERA PLAZA !!
SF Bay Guardian: “…the chief glory of 30 Century Man is the lavish setting that it affords Walker’s recordings…This listening party effect is intoxicating.”SF Weekly: “The movie is a light at the end of Walker’s poorly lit, twisting tunnel, giving valuable insight into this venerated nonconformist.”
“…the man, the music, the impact and the influence - a story from the other side of a parallel universe…a fine new rock documentary.” The San Francisco Chronicle
or…”Through A Long And Sleepless Night…” Make that “A Long and Sleepless Year” - well, we’re finally bringing you the North American release of “SCOTT WALKER - 30 CENTURY MAN” starting on December 17 at the IFC Center in NYC. In the meantime, London gets one more look at the film on the big screen the Saturday afternoon before “Drifting & Tilting” at the Barbican Center in London. And after the SATURDAY NIGHT “Drifting & Tilting” performance (***note date change from the previously scheduled Friday night***), yours truly will be spinning Scott favorites & rarities at the Barbican Lates Lounge, right there in the foyer/bar. Come by and pitch in a request…”Stormy” anyone?
