Filmmaker’s Diary: November 25, 2004

“We are entering into silence, the most noisy, chaotic silence.”
Two months of waiting in London - one day in the studio with Scott. Worth the wait. In the meantime, sifting through Scott quotes to drop into film at points, signposts along the long road: “We are entering into silence, the most noisy, chaotic silence.”  The waiting. The silence. I can hardly get with the notion of a “production diary” in this headspace…the waiting is part of the process, has been since the first fax was sent to the Negus-Fancey’s in 2001 while I was working on Cinemania.

In the studio with two small cameras, we try to become as invisible as possible, as silent as possible. An amazing day. Percussion. The incredible Alasdair Malloy arrives to make some beautiful noise. We have begun.
